A Letter from our Director: COVID-19 Practice Update September 2020

Earlier this summer we announced our commitment to keeping our staff and our clients safe during the pandemic by continuing with telehealth only sessions with a re-evaluation period in the Fall.  Thank you for your patience with the various technology hiccups and your continued commitment to safety during this time.   With the approach of Fall and the beginning of the school year, we recognize that many families are preparing for the next stage of living with the pandemic.  We have been exploring what it would look like to return to a limited number of safe, in-person sessions and have been testing various options and protocols in the office.

With that in mind, we want to announce that effective October 1, we will be continuing with virtual appointments as our primary modality, but will add a limited number of in-person sessions depending upon your and your therapist’s availability and comfortability.  We will offer shift-scheduled in-office sessions using masks, social distancing, and plexiglass.  These sessions will be scheduled and prioritized by the therapists using availability and clinical need as the criteria.

In addition, we will offer a limited number of outdoor in-person sessions as either a walking or sitting therapy maintaining social distance and using masks, as needed.  Please note that NOT all clinicians will be offering in-office or outdoor sessions, so we encourage you to contact your therapist, directly, to clarify the individualized options that are available to you.  You will be able to schedule your appointments as usual through our client portal and contact your therapist to confirm the location if it will be outside.

The following health protocols apply to all in-person office or outdoor therapy sessions. We ask that you keep them in mind and note how they will impact your visit.

In-Office Visit

  1. Complete a short health-assessment the day of your visit that will be sent through the client portal;
  2. The Rotunda requires all visitors to wear masks to enter the building, use the restrooms, and walk through common areas (i.e. elevators, stairs, hallways);
  3. We ask that you keep your mask on in the waiting room and until your therapist tells you it is safe to remove it;
  4. Your therapist will greet you in the waiting room, provide you space to come in, sit in the designated area, and be seated behind the plexiglass shield;
  5. At this point, you are both safe to remove your masks and speak freely behind the plexiglass shield;
  6. Hand sanitizer will be available before and after your session;
  7. The Rotunda has increased cleaning schedules and airflow and filtration throughout the building.

Outdoor Visit

  1. Complete a short health-assessment the day of your visit that will be sent through the client portal;
  2. Meet your therapist at the agreed-upon designated location;
  3. Social distance should be maintained and masks are encouraged where it cannot be;
  4. You will either be able to walk an outdoor trail or sit together in an outdoor location.

We will continue offering teletherapy as our primary modality to ensure your needs are met and to maintain our ability to keep everyone as safe as possible, while still maintaining our current levels of availability.  Thank you for your continued commitment to the health, safety, and well-being of one another as we navigate these challenging times.

With care,

Amy Price, MA, LCPC
